Process
Our Web Design Process:
Step 1 :: Client Survey
After initial contact with the client (via contact method preferred; e.mail or phone), the client will be sent a Client Survey to fill out. The Survey can be sent by mail, discussed by phone or on our online form.
This is a simple way to determine the purpose of the project, the target audience, branding/perception goals, content source, technical specs and communication strategy.
The Client Survey can be found here.
Step 2 :: Project Brief Created
Based on the information gathered in the Client Survey, the Project Brief is written to define in black and white the project goals, audience profile, audience perception, primary message and competitive advantage.
A sample Project Brief can be found here.
Step 3 :: Project Plan/Timeline Established
The Plan/Timeline for deliverables and tasks for each phase of the project are created. Due dates will be assigned and a Project Timeline will be discussed with and sent to the client.
A sample Project Timeline can be found here.
Step 4 :: Wireframes
A wireframe is a non-graphical layout of a web page. It is a simple drawing of the chunks of information and functionality for each page in your site. A wireframe will be created for the home page, each unique second level page and any other significantly different page on the site.
Wireframes include the containers for all the major elements of the page. Elements include navigation, images, content, functional elements (like search) and footer.
An example of a Wireframe can be found here.
Step 5 :: Visual Design
This is when we review the (Project Brief and Wireframes)are visually designed!
1st and 2nd drafts will be created and submitted to the client for review and feedback.
Here is an example of the draft review process:
- 1st draft of visual designs submitted to client
- Client provides feedback on 1st draft designs
- 2nd draft (after reviewing notes on 1st draft from client) of visual designs submitted to client
- Client rovides feedback on 2nd draft designs
- Final visual designs submitted to client
- Client approval of final design
Step 6 :: Quality Assurance Testing
This is when we closely review the content, links, functionality and security of the site. Making sure everything is working properly.
Step 7 :: Launch
This is when we officially make the web site live to the public!
